The goal of Partners in Prevention is to reduce substance abuse among youth and, over time, among adults by addressing the factors in a community that increase the risk of substance abuse and promoting the factors that minimize the risk of substance abuse. To reach our goal, the coalition works to:
1. Reduce youth access to alcohol, marijuana and prescription drugs
· Reduce parents providing alcohol
· Change communities culture of use
2. Create an environment supporting the community perception that substance abuse by youth is harmful
· Educate the public about the dangers of alcohol/marijuana/prescription drug use
· Coordinate a countywide prevention plan
· Change communities culture of use
3. Generate opportunities for positive peer influence
· Educate youth about the dangers of alcohol/marijuana/prescription drug use
· Increase youth attendance in appropriate alternative activities
Through creating and implementing awareness campaigns, hosting events and establishing community collaborations, Partners hopes to reach its goal.
