Family Fun Fest
Family Fun Fest is held on the second Saturday in September at Riverside Park from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm The activities planned for family participation include: pony rides, wagon rides, a petting zoo, face painting, live music, non-competitive games, hula-hoop contest, bubble gum blowing contest, booths explaining family resources available throughout Rock County, and free door prizes. Local police, fire and National Guard units' staff booths and display vehicles. Food vendors provide pizza and hot dogs for purchase and popcorn is free.
Family Fun Fest is one of only a few alcohol, tobacco and drug free family events offered in Rock County. As we become more aware of the substantial substance abuse we have among our youth, ATOD free events become more important. This event helps send the message to our youth that substance abuse is not the norm. This event is part of a comprehensive community prevention effort to establish community norms against misuse of alcohol and illicit drugs. Family Fun Fest draws public and media attention to alcohol and drug issues and therefore and increased awareness and support of our prevention efforts.
Funded in part by United Way of Northern Rock County.
In 2011, Family Fun Fest hosted almost 400 families and youth. The event featured free pony and wagon rides, face painting, family-bonding themed raffle baskets, live music provided by The Rich Winger Band, and lots of community booths and support!
